Strip layout (or strip development) defines how a part is nested and sequenced along the stock as it moves through a progressive die. It sets the progression, the number of stations, carrier and pilot strategy, and the web/bridge allowances.
A good layout maximizes material utilization (parts per foot) while keeping the strip strong enough to feed reliably and registered enough to hold tolerances.
