Nitrogen gas springs provide very high initial force in a compact cylinder and a flatter force curve than coil die springs. They are used for pressure pads, blank holders, and form stations where space is tight and consistent force is needed.
Force is set by charge pressure and piston area; systems can be plumbed together for synchronized force across a tool.
