Deep Drawing
A forming process that draws a flat blank into a hollow cup or shell deeper than its diameter.
What it means on the floor
In deep drawing, a punch forces a sheet-metal blank into a die cavity, converting a flat disc into a seamless cup or box. The blank holder controls metal flow to prevent wrinkling while allowing the material to draw in.
Parts too deep to form in one hit are produced in multiple draw and redraw stages, each limited by the safe draw reduction ratio.
