A compound die completes two or more cutting operations simultaneously at one station in a single stroke, producing a flat part with excellent flatness and hole-to-edge accuracy.
Because everything happens at once in one station, compound dies give superior dimensional control compared with progressive dies, but they are limited to relatively simple, flat parts.
